A Pitta test looks for the traits Ayurveda links to Pitta: running warm, a strong appetite, sharp focus and a quick temper under pressure. Pitta never acts alone, so this free quiz measures all three doshas and shows Pitta as a percentage of your whole result. It takes about three minutes and needs no email.
The Pitta signs the quiz looks at
The classical texts describe Pitta's qualities as hot, sharp and liquid. Ayurveda reads those qualities into a person through traits like these, and several of the quiz's questions about your lifelong patterns are where Pitta usually surfaces:
- Heat. Feeling warm when others are comfortable, sweating easily, disliking hot weather.
- Appetite. A strong, reliable hunger, and becoming short-tempered if a meal is late.
- Digestion. Digesting quickly, rather than slowly or unpredictably.
- Skin. Skin that flushes or reddens easily.
- Under pressure. Getting sharp, critical or irritable, rather than anxious or withdrawn.
- Pace and exercise. Working with focus and intensity; liking a challenge and a goal.
You will not be told which option is the "Pitta answer". The answers are kept neutral so that you describe yourself, not the dosha you hope to get.
Why Pitta is measured alongside Vata and Kapha
A test that asks only "are you Pitta?" misses how Ayurveda thinks about constitution. Your dosha is a proportion. Everyone has some Pitta; the question is how much, and what it sits next to.
That is why this quiz scores all three doshas together and shows the result as one bar, split into Vata, Pitta and Kapha, each with a percentage. It is about 17 questions, plus a short safety check.
The neighbours change what Pitta looks like. Pitta paired with Vata tends to be described as fast and intense, with more restlessness. Pitta paired with Kapha tends to be described as strong and determined, with more stamina and steadiness. Two people who are both "mostly Pitta" can need quite different things, and a percentage keeps that difference visible.
Pitta in your nature, or Pitta right now?
Some things can make anyone feel more Pitta for a while: a heatwave, a high-pressure project, a few weeks of spicy food and late nights. Ayurveda calls that shift your vikriti, your current state, and keeps it separate from your prakriti, the balance you were born with.
The quiz does the same. The bulk of the questions ask how you have been for most of your life. One or two at the end ask about now. If those suggest Pitta is running high at the moment, your result says so in its own section, rather than quietly inflating your Pitta percentage. So answer the lifelong questions with your whole life in mind, including the cooler, calmer years.
This also works the other way. Some people with a strong Pitta nature have spent years deliberately slowing down, eating more carefully and keeping their temper in check. If that is you, answer for your natural tendency — what happens when you are tired, hungry or under pressure — rather than for the habits you have built on top of it. The habits are worth keeping; they just are not your prakriti.
Reading your Pitta result
Pitta leads. Ayurveda traditionally pairs a Pitta-led balance with cooling food, moderation and not running at full intensity all the time. The Pitta dosha page explains the dosha and what is traditionally used to keep it in balance.
Pitta is a close second. You likely have a dual pattern. Read your leading dosha's page, then the Pitta page, and see Vata–Pitta or Pitta–Kapha for the pairing that matches you.
Pitta is small. Then heat and intensity are not your main pattern. That can be reassuring if you expected otherwise.
Pitta is flagged as running high right now. That is about your present state. Our article on Pitta, anger and burnout looks at one pattern Ayurveda associates with it.
Your result is a wellness reading, not a diagnosis. If you have symptoms such as persistent heartburn or skin problems, see a doctor. For more on what any dosha test can and cannot tell you, read the guide on the full dosha quiz page.
Questions people ask
Common signs in Ayurvedic descriptions are a strong appetite, disliking heat, a medium build and a sharp, driven way of working. The surest way to see where you stand is a full dosha test, because it weighs Pitta against Vata and Kapha rather than in isolation.
It means Pitta leads your inborn balance. In Ayurveda that is a description of your tendencies, not a fault and not a diagnosis.
Your constitution does not change with the season, but how you feel can. The quiz asks most questions about your whole life and a few about now, so a hot spell is more likely to show up as Pitta running high right now than as a change in your dosha.
No. It is free, takes about three minutes, and shows your full result without an email.
